The Panasonic Lumix DMC-L10 is an SLR aimed at the consumer market. The camera boasts of a 10 mega pixel N-MOS sensor and is equipped with Live View facilities. Thus, the camera is very useful and supports contrast based AF which allows focusing without having to flip its mirror back and forth. Another very unique feature included in this SLR is Face Detection.
New Features
Panasonic Lumix DMC-L10 uses a lens which is designed for Four Thirds system and a special model is needed in order to support AF contrast. The lenses which can be used for this are Leica 14-150mm super zoom and Leica 14-50mm f3.8 -5.6 kit kens. Both of them have an optical image stabilization (OIS) feature.
The ISO mode detects movement and increases the ISO in need and allows a faster shutter speed in order to freeze the action. The L10 utilizes Super Sonic Wave Filter system which combats dust that enters the camera body. They are very efficient in hiding dust marks even if particles have not been shaken free.
This camera with unique features and a flip out screen would appeal to consumers. Photos at unusual angles are enabled by the flip out screen and the Panasonic Lumix DMC-L10 is the only DSLR with one. Fun features like face detection attracts customers and rightly so.
The camera comes with the best kit lens and performs well. It can be handled with ease and is efficient. The SSWF provision that hides dust marks is a feature that is unique and very helpful in getting good pictures of unusual visuals. Though slightly high priced, the Panasonic Lumix DMC-L10 can still hold a decent position due to the features it offers.
