Nikon P60

So I checked out the new P60 by Nikon this last weekend. Overall, not a bad camera. I’m still trying to get used to the idea of a 2.5″ LCD screen on a compact digital camera. What amazes me is how clear they are. In fact, I bet that the optical viewfinder will be extinct in the next couple of years. But that’s OK because the P60 has an electronic view finder anyways.

Other features of this compact camera include the following:

• a 5x Nikkor lens, excellent for capturing the closer pics (which by the way allows you to zoom while you are in movie mode).

•  A staggering 8.1 mega pixel capability, which can get yourself some nice framable pictures.

Nikon coolpix 5100

41tkvux-il_sl500_aa280_.jpg

The Nikon P5100 is quite the sophisticated piece of art for a compact camera. It features a 12.1 mega pixel sensor, which is a step up from its brother P5000. The P5100’s lens has remained unchanged, however. It still sports the 3.5x zoom Nikkon optically-stabilized VR (Vibration Reduction).

This compact digital camera has an amazing feel to it; something that you would not come to expect from such a full-featured compact camera like this. It has the typical 2.5″ screen that you see on most compacts today, and even has some antiglare coating on it. However, like most LCDs, it is still hard to see in the direct sun.

Professional Grade Photography With Fujifilm Finepix S1000fd

The Fujifilm FinePix S1000fd is a super zoom digital camera that works well for experienced photographers. Overall, the camera looks and feels like a smaller version of the DSLR class of cameras, but it does not have the mirror assembly that would define it as DSLR. There is a wide range of manual controls on board that put this camera out of the range of those accustomed to point and shoot photography, yet more experienced photographers can produce professional grade photographs using it.

The 12 x zoom lens allows you to take some really detailed closeups without having to approach too closely. According to Fuji, the S1000fd is the smallest digital camera in the world to have both 10 mega pixel resolution and 12 x zoom.

Bridging The Gap With Fujifilm Finepix S100fs

51zmtxndyl_sl500_aa280_.jpg

The entire lot of digital cameras can be broadly categorized into three different basic types: DSLR, which are large, bulky cameras that use a complex mirror assembly to take high quality pictures; compact cameras that can be held in the hand and use small sensors to capture the images; bridge cameras that function similar to DSLR, but are lighter in weight because they lack the mirror assembly. The Fujifilm Finepix S100FS is one of the few remaining cameras that fit into the bridge category.

This camera possesses some unique features, such as a large 2/3 inch 11.1 mp sensor, 14.3 x super zoom lens, and settings that allow you to simulate different grades of Fuji film.

Fujifilm Finepix F60fd

415vbexfvkl_sl500_aa280_.jpg

The Fujifilm Finepix F60fd camera is another addition to the ever popular ultra compact point and shoot cameras.  It features 12mp, 3x optical zoom, face detection technology, sensor shift image stabilization, 3 inch LCD screen, and automatic scene detection.

First of all, this is a nice little package wrapped up into a little bundle of joy. It’s amazing how these ultra compacts are sporting 12 mp. That’s something that you would usually expect from a much larger DSLR, not a compact camera that you can slip into your shirt pocket. From the off position, this little guy can spring into action in a whopping 1.2 seconds. However, when you get ready to take the next picture, it is pretty slow, something like 3 seconds. So if you miss the first picture, it can be a little disappointing trying to get the next one in time.

Fujifilm FinePix S2000HD

415mnq6b77l_sl500_aa280_.jpg

If you are looking for a lightweight, compact, and yet, fully loaded camera, then you should take a look at Fujifilm FinePix S2000HD. This is the latest 10-megapixel super-zoom camera from Fujifilm that has a 15x optical zoom lens with a focal length ranging from 27.6 to 414 mm. The super-zoom feature of the camera allows it to use the Macro Zoom mode that helps the user to get absolutely clear, close-up images as required.

This sophisticated and user-friendly super-zoom camera promises great pictures even when the subject is moving or there has been a slight shake of your hand. This is largely due to its dual image stabilization mode, which is a combination of the Super CCD Sensor and highly sensitive ISO. These two technologies, when combined together, remove the blurred effect caused by movement, making the final picture really sharp and clear. This super-zoom camera has a face detection mode, which helps correct the red eye syndrome, and is much better and accurate than most models.
