Nikon’s P6000

Nikon’s P6000 is a force to be reckoned with. It has a lot of cool features wrapped up into a nice little package. This is definitely the coolest little compact camera you could own. It’s small enough to almost fit in your pocket.

The coolest thing about this compact camera is that it is a 13.5 megapixel! That’s bigger than my D200. That means that you could possibly take a picture suitable to hang on your wall (20×30). Another appreciable fact is that it has the wired LAN connection. You can connect this guy to your cat5 and download your pics to Nikon’s picture town site for 2 gigs of free storage. It even has a GPS system for figuring out where the heck you took that last picture at.

I don’t really like the lack of juice it holds, though you can get about 200 real pictures with it, but that is not using the GPS or flash. It is really kind of old technology as far as the battery goes. The other thing I don’t like is the noise at higher ISOs; it gets kind of grainy, but as long as you can keep it in the low 200-300 range, you will get clear pics.

Overall, not a bad little guy for the price really. It can be a little easier to hike around the woods with, and you don’t have to worry about changing the lens around like the SLRs your used to. I think you will be surprised at what this new compact camera can do.
