Nikon P60

So I checked out the new P60 by Nikon this last weekend. Overall, not a bad camera. I’m still trying to get used to the idea of a 2.5″ LCD screen on a compact digital camera. What amazes me is how clear they are. In fact, I bet that the optical viewfinder will be extinct in the next couple of years. But that’s OK because the P60 has an electronic view finder anyways.

Other features of this compact camera include the following:

• a 5x Nikkor lens, excellent for capturing the closer pics (which by the way allows you to zoom while you are in movie mode).

•  A staggering 8.1 mega pixel capability, which can get yourself some nice framable pictures.

• Sensor-shift image stabilization that helps keep your home movies from looking like the “Blair Witch Project”.

• One more great feature that I just love . . . AA batteries, yeah, it’s true. You don’t have to hunt down replacement for some odd size battery.

Just place some Duracell’s in this bad boy and you are ready to rock and roll. Overall, this is a good little camera for a point and shoot compact, I really can’t complain.

The only downside for me was that maybe it is too small. I don’t know, it just seems as if I might lose it. I’m so used to the bulkier compacts that I’m afraid I’m going to lose this thing. Although it does have a handy little wrist strap to keep you from dropping it down the cliff (you know, for that rare occasion when you take pictures over the side of the cliff). Maybe that’s why they come in bright colors?
