The Budget-Friendly, User-Friendly Nikon Coolpix S610
The Nikon Coolpix S610 is a powerful, budget-friendly, full-feature camera that packs a lot of punch in its small frame. The S610 is considered the cousin to the very popular but much more expensive S610c, which has a built-in Wi-Fi feature for wirelessly uploading photos to your desktop. If wireless uploading is more than you need, but you still like the in-depth features of the S610c, than the Nikon Coolpix S610 is the camera for you, all at a fraction of the cost.
The S610 boasts many features rarely seen in the compact S-class digital camera, including a 10-megapixel sensor, 3.0-inch LCD monitor, optical Vibration Reduction (often called “stabilization”), a nominal ISO sensitivity range from 100 to 3200 and a 4x optical zoom lens that provides a 28 to 112mm focal range. Additionally, the camera features Nikon’s patented EXPEED processor technology, automatic in-camera red-eye correction, face-priority auto focus and Nikon’s famous post-processing D-Lighting tool.
Stylistically, the camera looks and feels great. Its angular body, rounded corners and cool colors make the S610 not only a real beauty to look at but, with its extra sturdy body, a really comfortable camera to hold. And even with a new three inch monitor, the camera back is far from cluttered or confusing.
The only downside to the camera some users mentioned is the somewhat slowed shutter lag time, which can make taking many photographs in repetition somewhat challenging, but if this is not a feature you need, then this is the camera for you.
Right out of the box, the Nikon Coolpix S610 does the job it was designed to do and does it to a T, while never losing focus on its user-friendly features and budget-friendly price.
