Nikon coolpix 5100

The Nikon P5100 is quite the sophisticated piece of art for a compact camera. It features a 12.1 mega pixel sensor, which is a step up from its brother P5000. The P5100’s lens has remained unchanged, however. It still sports the 3.5x zoom Nikkon optically-stabilized VR (Vibration Reduction).

This compact digital camera has an amazing feel to it; something that you would not come to expect from such a full-featured compact camera like this. It has the typical 2.5″ screen that you see on most compacts today, and even has some antiglare coating on it. However, like most LCDs, it is still hard to see in the direct sun.

The P5100 is a camera all photographers can start loving. It has a manual adjustment to fine tune things the way you want, or some automatic modes to just basically point and shoot. Some say that the menu system is a bit odd - I actually find it a nice little feature. This compact camera is very easy to get it to do what you want; you have absolute control over it. However, with too much control, you can make this a burden as well as a blessing.

Apart from the ISO being terrible in the higher ranges, I think this would make a good little camera to sneak into places because of its small size, you can slip it into your pocket and bust it out at your favorite concerts. Additionally, this compact camera is very rugged, during my first trial I dropped it on the sidewalk when I was walking down the street; to my utter amazement, it didn’t receive any damage!
