Fujifilm Finepix F60fd

The Fujifilm Finepix F60fd camera is another addition to the ever popular ultra compact point and shoot cameras.  It features 12mp, 3x optical zoom, face detection technology, sensor shift image stabilization, 3 inch LCD screen, and automatic scene detection.

First of all, this is a nice little package wrapped up into a little bundle of joy. It’s amazing how these ultra compacts are sporting 12 mp. That’s something that you would usually expect from a much larger DSLR, not a compact camera that you can slip into your shirt pocket. From the off position, this little guy can spring into action in a whopping 1.2 seconds. However, when you get ready to take the next picture, it is pretty slow, something like 3 seconds. So if you miss the first picture, it can be a little disappointing trying to get the next one in time.

The face detection is a really nice feature on this compact camera. It can even recognize faces at extreme angles. It can detect up to 10 faces in a scene and takes only a fraction of a second to do so. It automatically sets the correct white balance, exposure and focus, no matter where the subjects are in the frame.

The Finepix F60fd is blessed with a whopping 3 inch LCD screen, not too bad for a compact camera. The monitor has 230,000 pixels with Fuji technology, allowing the screen to be viewed at extreme angles.

The only downside I have found is that the mode wheel is a little loosely fit. I have discovered that it is easily turned while pulling it out of your pocket. This can be a little frustrating if you have set it, and then, pull it out fast to snap a shot.
