Canon PowerShot G10 is the new kid on the block in Canon G-series. This CCD sensor camera has a 5 x optical zoom and resolution of 14.7 MP. It has a wide angled-28mm zoom lens with optical image stabilization, which makes it a photographer’s delight. These features allow you to shoot sharp pictures without any blurs.

This camera weighs 14.1 ounces. Its dimensions are 4.30 x 3.06 x 1.81 inch. If you compare this model with G9, you will find that Canon has stretched the dimensions of this model from all sides. Nikon’s P6000 is a force to be reckoned with. It has a lot of cool features wrapped up into a nice little package. This is definitely the coolest little compact camera you could own. It’s small enough to almost fit in your pocket.

The coolest thing about this compact camera is that it is a 13.5 megapixel! That’s bigger than my D200. That means that you could possibly take a picture suitable to hang on your wall (20×30). Another appreciable fact is that it has the wired LAN connection. You can connect this guy to your cat5 and download your pics to Nikon’s picture town site for 2 gigs of free storage. It even has a GPS system for figuring out where the heck you took that last picture at.

So I checked out the new P60 by Nikon this last weekend. Overall, not a bad camera. I’m still trying to get used to the idea of a 2.5″ LCD screen on a compact digital camera. What amazes me is how clear they are. In fact, I bet that the optical viewfinder will be extinct in the next couple of years. But that’s OK because the P60 has an electronic view finder anyways.

Other features of this compact camera include the following:

• a 5x Nikkor lens, excellent for capturing the closer pics (which by the way allows you to zoom while you are in movie mode).

•  A staggering 8.1 mega pixel capability, which can get yourself some nice framable pictures.

The Nikon P5100 is quite the sophisticated piece of art for a compact camera. It features a 12.1 mega pixel sensor, which is a step up from its brother P5000. The P5100’s lens has remained unchanged, however. It still sports the 3.5x zoom Nikkon optically-stabilized VR (Vibration Reduction).

This compact digital camera has an amazing feel to it; something that you would not come to expect from such a full-featured compact camera like this. It has the typical 2.5″ screen that you see on most compacts today, and even has some antiglare coating on it. However, like most LCDs, it is still hard to see in the direct sun.
